Xcel Energy Plans To Shift From Coal

Xcel Energy plans to get more than half of its power from renewable sources by 2026. The company announced their Colorado Energy Plan on Tuesday. Xcel plans to retire two coal-fired power plants in Pueblo to make way for the renewable’s. Currently, coal makes up about 46% of the utility’s portfolio, but officials want to reduce that to about 23% within the next decade.
