A Wyoming State Trooper got into a physical altercation with a suspect he pulled over for speeding on I-80 about 3 miles east of Green River Friday morning. During the course of the stop, the trooper developed reasonable suspicion that some other criminal activity was going on. The driver was identified as 19 year old Ronnie Rake of California. A struggle ensued in the ditch next to the interstate as Rake attempted to leave while failing to comply with the troopers orders. Multiple witnesses driving by the struggle contacted 911 advising that the trooper was in need of assistance. Rake was eventually taken into custody and was transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center in Rock Springs. He has been charged with speeding and interference with a peace officer. In a press release the Wyoming Highway Patrol expressed their thanks to all of the concerned citizens who notified 911. Neither the trooper nor the suspect were injured during the struggle.
