The level of the Blacks Fork River near Granger in western Sweetwater County has stabilized for now, but county officials are still preparing for potential flooding issues. Sweetwater County Emergency Management has stockpiled a total of 42,000 sandbags in the event that floods continue in the area. The bags are stored at the City of Green River Public Works building. In the event of additional flooding, inmate workers from the Sheriff’s Office Inmate Community Service Program will be available to fill the sandbags. According to Sweetwater County Sheriff Mike Lowell, the county’s emergency management personnel are monitoring water levels and will alert the public in the event that flood conditions worsen.
