Wyoming May Expand “Stand Your Ground” Law

A bill that would provide extended protections to anyone who uses deadly force under serious threat of bodily harm will be discussed during the upcoming Wyoming legislative session. The bill would provide protections against both criminal and civil charges in cases where a person that shoots someone is clearly acting in self defense against an attacker. This would expand the current law which allows homeowners to use deadly force in their homes, without first considering if they are able to get away from the situation. If enacted, the new law would then protect individuals involved in a Stand Your Ground situation away from their homes. This year’s legislative session in Wyoming starts Monday.
