The Wyoming Highway Patrol has issued a report detailing the department’s activities in 2016. Highway Patrol officers issue more than 42,000 citations last year. 1,000 people were arrested for driving under the influence with 1,700 people being arrested on misdemeanor and felony drug charges. Troopers investigated more than 6,600 motor vehicle crashes last year, 73 of those involved intoxicated driving, which resulted in the deaths 112 people on Wyoming highways. 55 of the 112 people that were killed last year were not wearing seat-belts. Concerning seat-belt use, troopers issued 905 tickets for improperly restrained children and more than 5,000 citations for lack or misuse of a seat-belt.
