A Rock Springs fugitive sought since March by Sweetwater County authorities was captured yesterday in western Colorado. Sheriff Mike Lowell said detectives from the Sheriff’s Office SNAAG unit followed up on information they developed concerning the whereabouts of 27 year old Matthew Fernandez, who was wanted for multiple counts of forgery and theft stemming from the use of a stolen credit card. Detectives tracked Fernandez to a residence in Clifton, Colorado, where he was arrested without incident by deputies from the Mesa County Sheriff’s Office. Forgery is a felony that carries a maximum possible penalty of 10 years in prison, and a $10,000 fine. Lowell said arrangements are being made for Fernandez’s return to Wyoming.
