Wyoming Crash Results in Fatality

whpA fatal crash on Sunday resulted in the death of 64 year old Linda Brantner of Bairoil, Wyoming. The crash was on US Highway 287 about 16 miles north of Rawlins. Brantner was driving a pickup in heavy rainfall and wet road conditions. A jeep, driven by 58 year old Robert Harlow of Oceanside, California was also on 287, going the opposite direction. The pickup hydroplaned on the wet road and crossed the centerline in front of the oncoming Jeep. Brantner was wearing her seat belt but still sustained fatal injuries on scene. Harlow and his passenger, 59 year old Susan Harlow, were both wearing their seat belts and were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital of Carbon County in Rawlins. Harlow has been treated and released. His wife’s status is unknown at this time. The crash did cause a temporary closure of US 287. Speed and the worn tire condition of the pick up are being investigated as contributing factors in the 67th highway fatality this year in Wyoming. There were 70 fatalities in this same time period in 2014.
