Woman in Steamboat Attacked by Moose

mooseIn the wake of the third moose attack in two years, residents of and visitors to Steamboat are reminded to practice caution in moose territory. A woman was injured Sunday afternoon when she was run over by a moose in the Storm Mountain Ranch area. She was walking her dogs along a path, when the animal came up behind her. According to wildlife officials, she turned to face the moose just as it hit her. She was taken to Yampa Valley Medical Center, and then flown to Denver with a slight fracture of the skull. Parks and Wildlife policy is to put down any aggressive animal that attacks a human, however, after tracking the animal for a lengthy period, they were not able to find it.
