Winds Continue To Hinder I-80 Drivers

WINDHigh winds and snow continue to cause problems for travelers on I-80 across Wyoming. Overnight part of the interstate was closed due to extreme blow over risk as winds were gusting to over 65 mph, there were also areas where black ice and accidents stopped or slowed down traffice By daybreak most of I-80 was open but with reduced visibility between Exit 279 at Cooper Cove Road and Laramie. Drivers should be aware that State law allows for a fine and jail time for failure to comply with highway closures and restrictions. As conditions have been changing rapidly on I-80, drivers are encouraged to dial 551 for the latest road conditions before traveling.
