There will be a presentation Thursday night in Meeker to explain the role the Lost Solar Fire will have on the environment, and the ecosystem. The meeting will take place at the Meeker Public Library from 7 to 8:30. The Lost Solar Fire, burning in the Flat Top Wilderness Area approximately 25 miles east of Meeker, is being managed using a “confine and contain” strategy, which allows crews to monitor the fire from a safe distance, reducing unnecessary risk. Favorable weather conditions are expected through the weekend which could help decrease the fires activity. The Lost Solar Fire is currently estimated at just under 7 square miles.
