Fire season is winding down in Northwest Colorado. Crews have been battling several fires for an extended period of time and now have them mostly under control. The Beaver Creek Fire burning 24 miles north of Walden, has had limited growth over the past month and is estimated at just under 69 square miles and is 75% contained. The Lost Solar Fire burning in the Flat Top Wilderness area approximately 25 miles southeast of Meeker, is still within the established perimeter set up by the fire management team, and is estimated at less than 7 square miles. The Silver Creek Fire burning in the Sarvis (SARR-viss) Creek Wilderness area in the Routt National Forest has also stayed within an established perimeter of less than one mile.
