A wildfire ignited Saturday afternoon in the Big Red Park area, ten miles north of Clark in Routt County. The fire is burning on steep terrain in beetle killed timber, near the area of the “500 Fire” which occurred a couple of years ago. No structures are currently threatened by the blaze. Due to the location, the Forest Service is monitoring the fire. If conditions change, the situation will be re-assessed and tactics adjusted. Rain in the forecast this week should help keep the fire in check. The 10 acre fire remains under investigation but early indications are that it was started by lightning.
