One person was injured Friday following a two vehicle accident on Highway 40, at the bottom of the west side of Rabbit Ears Pass. According to Josh Lewis of the Colorado State Patrol, the driver of one of the vehicles, 27-year-old Chelsea Burkett was taken to the hospital shortly after noon, with unknown injuries. The other driver, 72-year-old Thomas Clapsaddle, was not transported. Traffic was able to move through the area. The accident remains under investigation, but drugs and alcohol are not expected to have contributed. The initial report mistakenly indicated that two people were transported to the hospital. This appears to have been in anticipation of Clapsaddle also needing medical transport.
