Two Sent To Hospital After Highway 40 Accident

A two vehicle accident on Highway 40 near Steamboat sent two to the hospital yesterday afternoon. 20-year-old Griffin Palmer of Steamboat was attempting to make a turn from Highway 131 onto Highway 40 when he pulled in front of an SUV. The driver of the SUV swerved to avoid Palmer, but the cars collided. Passengers in the SUV, 40-year-old Bernina Gaitana sustained serious injuries, and a 12 year old female suffered minor injuries during the incident. Both were taken to the hospital for treatment. 5 others in the SUV and Palmer were uninjured during the incident.
