Truck Driver Robbed in Southern Wyoming

sweetwater-county-sheriff-3A truck driver in Southern Wyoming was robbed at gunpoint Friday morning, and the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office is seeking help from the public in identifying the suspect. William Hall, a truck driver from Mississippi hauling commercial air conditioning units to Washington, was parked at the Bitter Creek Rest Area about 40 miles east of Rock Springs when he was accosted by a man with a handgun. The man, whom Hall described as a white male in his early 20s, wearing a dark blue pullover jacket or hoodie with the gold letters “UA” on the back, demanded Hall’s wallet, which he handed over. In it was about $117. Hall said the suspect left, westbound, in a dark brown, mid-1980s Ford Ranger pickup with no rear license plate and no tailgate. Sheriff Mike Lowell says investigators believe the suspect may be local. Anyone with information on the suspect or his vehicle is asked to contact the Sheriff’s Office or other local law enforcement agency.
