Tri-State Generation and Transmission has written a letter to the EPA, asking that a hearing on the agency’s new carbon emissions rules be held in Moffat County. The letter is one of several that has been sent to the EPA asking the same thing. The letter says that while Tri-State is glad they will get an opportunity to voice their opinion on the rules during the Denver hearing, there should be an additional hearing “in a rural region where electricity consumers, agricultural users, small businesses, and industry could be greatly impacted by the proposed guidelines.” Representative Scott Tipton, Senator Michael Bennet, the Moffat County Commissioners, and others have all requested that the EPA move their Denver hearing to Moffat County, or hold an additional one in the area. Due to overwhelming interest in the hearings, the EPA has decided to add 4 hearings to their schedule, but it has yet to be determined where those hearings will be held.
