Tri-State Generation has named a transition team leader to help employees and the community deal with the closure of Craig Station Unit 1. The company has selected Rick Thompson to work with the community and its employees to help them manage the closure of the unit. He will be responsible for developing a transition plan, and serving as the liaison between employees, the community and other stakeholders. Thompson, who is currently the companies senior manager for transmission land rights and permitting, has more than 25 years of experience in the industry, and has a long and successful history of project management. He is expected to begin meeting with employees and community leaders in the coming weeks. Tri-State, and the other owners of Unit 1, reached an agreement with the Environmental Protection Agency and other environmental groups in September, to close Unit 1 by the end of 2025.
