A number of trails are closed on Emerald Mountain to allow the City of Steamboat to continue the removal of beetle kill trees in the area. Root Canal, Upper and Middle Stairway to Heaven and No Mo’Bluez will all be closed through October, to allow the project to be completed. Additional closures are expected, but these will vary based on the challenges of the tree removal. Additional trail closure information is available below.
August 1 – October 15: Root Canal, Upper and Middle Stairway to Heaven, Upper No Mo’ Bluez
September 6 – September 23: Upper Morning Gloria
September 15 – September 17: One full day closure of the entire Emerald Mountain Trail System while helicopter logging and tree removal is in progress
Access to the backside of the mountain remains open via Lower No Mo’ Bluez to Wild Rose and Lane of Pain. Beall and Ridge Trails will not be affected by this project and will remain open.
