Following a 6th Circuit Court of Appeals decision that lifted the nationwide stay on the Waters of the United States Rule, or WOTUS, Members of the Congressional Western Caucus are calling on Congress to pass legislation to address the regulation. Colorado Congressman Scott Tipton says it is unacceptable that the most burdensome federal water and land grab in American history is again on track to become law. Tipton believes the Obama Administration’s WOTUS rule completely by-passes states’ water rights and threatens Colorado farmers, ranchers and landowners whose livelihoods depend on the availability of water. According to Tipton, the court’s latest decision to withdraw the stay on WOTUS makes it imperative that Congress take swift action to block the rule.
