The recent snowfall in the area is a reminder that winter is almost here. This means it’s time to winterize boats. Owners should be sure to get all the water out of the vessel before a hard freeze, as sealed water can expand causing damage. It’s recommended that marine fuel stabilizer is used and for gas tanks to be topped off before being stored. This will keep water out and maintain fuel quality as the boat sits for the next few months. You should also change the oil and gear lube prior to winter boat storage. Getting out the old lubricants will also help to remove excess water. For additional boat winterization tips and techniques, click here.
