The City of Steamboat is looking for suggestions on how to spend approximately the $1.2 million dollars in the city’s Accommodations Tax Reserve Fund. Project proposals should focus on improvements or amenities that draw additional visitors to Steamboat. A committee will review all proposals and make recommendations to the city on how the money should be allocated. Applications may request to use all or a portion of the funds in the implementation of their project. The excess money was collected from a tax on lodging accommodations. The Steamboat City Council is permitted to spend funds from the tax that exceed $660 thousand dollars per year on projects that promote tourism in Steamboat. Additional information about project requirements and the project application form are available here.
