Tax Increases May Fund Full Day Kindergarten

FullDayKindergartenThe Steamboat Springs Board of Education voted yesterday to put a mill levy override on the November ballot that would help to fund free full day kindergarten in the Steamboat Springs School District. The levy would vary per year, depending on kindergarten enrollment, and would go away completely if Colorado decides to fund full day kindergarten for the entire state. Early estimates indicate that Steamboat property owners would pay around $10 more in taxes on a property worth $100,000. Steamboat residents will vote on the proposed tax increase in November.
