The Craig City Council and Moffat County Commissioners agreed to participate in the Rural Jump-Start Program at their meetings Tuesday. The Rural Jump-Start program provides specific tax relief to new businesses that are located in certain economically distressed areas of rural Colorado, like Moffat County. To qualify for the program, companies must produce a product that fulfills a distinct need, and does not compete with any other businesses in the state. As part of Rural Jump-Start, the city and the County agreed to drop all property, sales and use taxes for any new businesses that qualify for the program. Those businesses will receive tax breaks for 4 years, and may apply to extend the tax reductions an additional 4 years. For information on the Rural Jump-Start program click here.
