State Wrestling Starts Thursday On KRAI

The High School State Wrestling Tournament gets underway Thursday afternoon.   26 wrestlers from Moffat, Routt and Rio Blanco Counties will compete for medals.  7 head into the tournament as regional champions.  11 are 2nd place finishers.  Dennis and Anton Fredrickson, both former state champions, will again broadcast the action live on 93.7 102.3 KRAI and online at KRAI.COM.  The three day broadcast will begin at 2:40 Thursday afternoon.  Wrestling gets underway at 3.  You’ll find the complete broadcast schedule and a link to the brackets below.  To sponsor the KRAI State Wrestling broadcast contact KRAI at 824-6574. Wrestlers Find Success In Day One Of State Tournament

STATE-WRESTLING-LISTEN-LIVENorthwest Colorado wrestlers got off to a great start Thursday in the preliminary rounds of the state tournament, as over two thirds of area wrestlers advanced to the Championship Quarterfinals.  Half of those wins were by pin.  With a win in the Quarterfinals, wrestlers will advance to the semi-finals and are guaranteed to place at the state tournament.  Eight wrestlers lost in the first round and will move into the first round of the consolation matches.  Team Meeker ended the day in 2nd place just 2 and 1/2 points back from the leader, Rocky Ford.  Moffat County is in 10th place.  Action resumes Friday morning at 10 beginning Continue reading
