Musical Fame at Meeker High

The Meeker High School Drama Club and International Thespian Society Troupe 1284  proudly presents the Broadway Musical “FAME” at the Meeker High School Auditorium, 550 School St.,  on May 21, 23, 24 at 7 pm .  Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors.

“FAME” is based on the popular 1980′s television and motion picture series about the students and faculty of a  New York City high school for the performing arts. It follows the lives and career aspirations of the teen-aged students who pursue  various career tracks in music, dance and acting  with future aspirations of Broadway theatre, cinema, prestigious music conservatories and lifelong performance careers.   The challenges of a performing arts career include strong competitions for leading roles and key positions in those career pursuits, the heartbreak of losing a coveted role or starring position and the joy and exultation of landing a key role.  The performance highlights  the humor of the faculty members and student,s and the colorful personalities and emotions of   the  talented students who aspire to very competitive performing arts professions.

FAME” tells the story of several students including fame-obsessed Carmen (played by  Mariah Jensen) , ambitious actress Serena (McKenna Kummer) , wisecracking comedian Joe (Bruno Juarez), quiet saintly violinist Schlomo (J.C. Henderson) and “talented but dyslexic” dancer Trysha (Stephanie Joos), and other cast members  Mabel (Ohana Mataia), Grace (Morgan Robb),Iris (Hailey Simonsen), Miss Esther (Aly Ridings), Miss Greta (jBrittany Smith), Mrs. Myers (Jamie McLaughlin), Scheinkopf (Collin Keeler), Nick (Sam Baylie) Goodman (Layton Bair) and the Student Ensemble (Linfs Lombardi, Deleen Mobley, Kendra Nelsen, Kinzey Burke, Reese Pertile, Madeline Amack, Christian Gomez, and Halle Ahrens).   Director is Kim Kendall. . Veteran MHS Drama Club and Honor Thespian members will portray the various roles with their usual humorous aplomb and creativity.  Fame is produced by special arrangement with Music Theatre International.  For more information contact Meeker High School at 970 878-9070.
