Holiday Drive – KRAI & 55 Country

Holiday Drive 2014

What Is The Holiday Drive?

The 16th annual 93.7 102.3 and 55 Country KRAI Holiday Drive will be held on Thursday and Friday December 4th and 5th in front of the Centennial Mall in Craig.   KRAI and 55 Country staff will broadcast live from 6am to 6pm both days.

Listeners are asked to make the event a success by donating cash, new unwrapped toys and non-perishable food.  100% of all money and items collected are passed on to four local organizations; the Interfaith Food Bank, Advocates Crisis Support Services (a crisis counseling and safe house organization), Christmas For Kids (a local organization that provides toys to underprivileged children) and Christmas For Seniors (a local organization that provides gift to hundreds of senior citizens in Moffat County).

Last year the KRAI Holiday Drive collected $28,500 in cash; 5,850 pounds of food and over 2,000 new toys, including everything from bicycles, remote control cars and electronics to dolls and games. The 2013 drive became our 2nd most successful ever, a huge feat in an uncertain economy.

Hundreds of volunteers participated during the event, providing live music, entertainment, photography, bookkeeping and man power to collect, sort and move all the donations.

Volunteers and donors from schools, businesses, civic organizations, clubs and others with no specific affiliation stepped in to help. Vehicles, trailers, heaters, propane (it was 30 below zero when we started broadcasting outside), food and much more was provided to help make the event a success.
