A team of Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives in Sweetwater County apprehended a fugitive sought by the Rock Springs Police Department Tuesday afternoon. 30 year old George Moore was wanted for Parole Violation and had twice within the last week fled from city officers. Officers tracked Moore to a residence on Bridger Avenue in Rock Springs. After a foot pursuit – during which Moore tried to hide in a garbage dumpster – and a scuffle, he was taken into custody and transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center. In 2009, Moore pled guilty to Forgery and Wrongful Taking or Disposing of Property in District Court in Green River. He was sentenced to four to six years in the Wyoming State Penitentiary on the Forgery charge and six months in the Sweetwater County Detention Center for the misdemeanor offense, but suspended the prison and jail time and placed him on four years of supervised probation. Six months later, Moore was found to have violated his probation and was sent to the Wyoming State Penitentiary, where he remained for the next 2½ years. He was paroled in June of 2012, but an Arrest and Hold Order for him was issued by the State Department of Corrections last December, charging him with Parole Violation. Moore remains in custody at the Detention Center, charged additionally with Interference with a Peace Officer.
