Rio Blanco County Sheriff Si Woodruff is recovering at home after he was stabbed while trying to arrest a teenager in the Pioneers Hospital parking lot in Meeker. Undersheriff Michael Joos said Saturday that Woodruff is expected to make a full recovery after he was stabbed in the abdomen while he and Meeker Police Chief Bob Harvey were trying to break up a fight between the suspect and his father Thursday. Woodruff underwent surgery at Saint Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction. Nineteen-year-old Logan Piper, of Meeker, is being held on charges of attempted first-degree murder of a peace officer and first-degree assault. His bail is set at $100,000.
