Charges will not be filed against a Craig Middle School student who brought several knives to school earlier this month. The student was detained by school staff December 5th, and the D-A’s office made it’s decision on the 9th. The office says although it initially appeared as though the weapons were illegal, further investigation determined that all of the knives had blades of less than three-and-a-half inches, and that there was no evidence that the student had used or was planning on using the knives to commit an act of violence at that time. Therefore, it was not a crime to possess the knives, though it may still have been a violation of school policy. While the decision means the student will not face legal consequences, there may still be disciplinary action from the school.
