Steamboat Sales Tax Will Decrease in ’17

SteamboatThe City of Steamboats Sales and Use Tax rate will decrease by .25% next year. A referendum passed during the 2011 election, increased the rate to provide funding for the Local Marketing District to support commercial air service to the Yampa Valley. That referendum will expire at the end of the year. The change should be fairly straight forward, but the city will work with businesses that deal with reservations or leases that run into 2017 to evaluate their system limitations and revenue recognition methods. The online sales tax filing system and paper forms will be adjusted to accommodate the change. Anyone with questions can contact the Steamboat Springs Sales Tax Department  at 879-2060 or email them at salestax@steamboatsprings.net.
