The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary April 2015 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. Steamboat’s April sales taxes are 9.18% more than the April 2014 collections, a difference of $94,917. All categories reflected increases this month with the exception of Utilities. Categorical increases were 37.55% in lodging and amenities, 11.08% in sporting goods, 10.51% in liquor stores, 9.81% in miscellaneous retail and 9.27% in restaurants. Notable increases in collections by area were 32.45% for the Mountain area, 9.19% for the Highway 40 Corridor and 8.53% for West Steamboat in comparison with April 2014. Year to date sales tax collection is showing a positive trend at 6.58% more than year to date through April 2014.
