The City of Steamboat has published the final January 2015 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. Steamboat’s January sales taxes are 6.01% more than the January 2014 collections, a difference of $124,480. Notable categorical increases were 7.59% in utilities, 6.68% in miscellaneous retail and 6.52% in lodging and amenities. Collections by area showed increases of 11.33% for the Regional area, 8.72% for the West Steamboat area, and 8.53% for the Downtown area over January 2014. The Accommodation Tax, with the passing of referendum 2A, is now primarily dedicated to local trail projects and Yampa Street improvements. Additionally, a small amount is dedicated towards the marketing of these projects and capital improvements at Haymaker. In total, January collections saw an increase of 5.37%, or $6,604, more than January 2014.
