The City of Steamboat has published the preliminary March 2014 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. March sales taxes are 6.91% more than the March 2013 collections, a difference of $154,865. Notable increases were seen in the lodging and amenities, miscellaneous retail and restaurant categories. The largest increase was a 9.67% increase in restaurants followed by a 9.13% increase in lodging and amenities and a 9.11% increase in miscellaneous retail. Collections by area showed increases across the board. Highlights include increases of 12.37% for the West Steamboat area, 10.12% for Regional, 7.65% for the Mountain area and 6.77% for the Downtown area over March 2013. Year to date sales tax collection is showing a positive trend at 6.15% more than year to date through March 2013.
