The City of Steamboat has published the final December 2014 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. Steamboat’s December sales taxes are 8.48% more than the December 2013 collections, a difference of $212,228. December 2014 collections of $2,716,175 reflect the highest December collections in the past decade. Notable categorical increases were 16.17% in lodging and amenities, 11.80% in restaurants, 11.75% in sporting goods and 10.31% in liquor stores. Collections by area showed increases of 17.21% for the Mountain area, 10.97% for the West Steamboat area, and 8.22% for the Downtown area over December 2013. Full year 2014 sales tax collection is 8.84% more than full year 2013. Collections for 2014 were 9.69% above budget.
