Steamboat Police Chief Resigns

Steamboat Police BadgeSteamboat’s top cop has tendered his resignation. Police Chief Joel Rae also held the title of Public Safety Services Director. According to a press release, Rae tendered his resignation to City Manager Deb Hinsvark, effective August 28th. Rae, joined the Steamboat Police Department in July of 1996. In ’97, he rose to the rank of Sergeant and was again promoted in 2004 to the rank of Captain. Upon the retirement of former Police Chief JD Hays in January of 2012, Rae was promoted to Public Safety Services Director. City Council President Bart Kounovsky, in the release, said he “would like to thank Chief Rae for his many years of service to the community, and wish him well in his future endeavors.”
