Steamboat To Lift Water Restrictions

Water restrictions that were instituted in May in Steamboat will be lifted this weekend. The restrictions will be removed Saturday, but residents are still being asked to conserve water around their homes and property.  Summer water usage data indicates that, under the mandatory stage 2 water restrictions, residents reduced their water consumption by 15%, conserving more than 60 million gallons of water. This is significant as stream flows in the Yampa and Fish Creek dropped below average this summer, resulting in the voluntary closure of the Yampa River.
