The City of Steamboat has published the final April 2014 Sales, Use, and Accommodation Tax Report. Steamboat’s April sales taxes are 7.74% more than the April 2013 collections, a difference of $73,913. Notable increases were seen in the restaurants, miscellaneous retail and liquor store categories. The largest increase was a 12.43% increase in restaurants followed by a 10.2% increase in miscellaneous retail and a 4.27% increase in liquor stores. Collections by area showed increases in all areas with the exception of the mountain area. Highlights include increases of 20.92% for the West Steamboat area, 8.87% for Downtown and 8.35% for the Highway 40 Corridor area over April 2013. Year to date sales tax collection is showing a positive trend at 6.6% more than year to date through April 2013.
