Steamboat And Flat Tops Avalanche Danger Elevated

AVALANCHE WARNINGThe heavy snowfall and high winds in the mountains over the past 24 hours and the likelihood of more snow and gusty winds today has raised the avalanche danger for areas around Steamboat Springs and the Flat Tops. The Colorado Avalanche Information Center said that natural and triggered avalanches are likely on steep slopes as conditions have turned significantly more dangerous. If you plan to be in avalanche prone areas today you will need to stay on your toes and pay attention to changing conditions through the day. The good news is that triggered avalanches will be small and will break only 1 to 3 feet deep.
