May is motorcycle awareness month in Colorado. As part of the effort to increase motorcycle safety in the state, CDOT is encouraging all riders to take part in a motorcycle operator training course, to develop and improve their skills and increase their motorcycle safety education. 125 motorcycle fatalities occurred on Colorado roads last year, a 15% increase from the motorcycle deaths that occurred in 2015. Out of the 125 people that died last year, 76 were not wearing helmets. Additional information about motorcycle safety is available here.
