Colorado Parks and Wildlife will once again sponsor guided hikes in 27 of their 42 state parks on New Year’s Day as part of America’s State Parks First Day Hikes initiative. First Day Hikes was created to offer everyone an opportunity to begin the New Year rejuvenating and connecting with the outdoors at a state park close to home. According to the National Association of State Park Directors, nearly 28,000 people hiked 68,811 miles in state parks across the country during the 2014 First Day Hike. Park staff and volunteers will lead the hikes, which average one to two miles or longer depending on the state park. Hikes will be held at several parks, including Stagecoach, Steamboat Lake, and Elk Head. You can get more details by clicking here.
