For a third day smoke and haze are expected. The haze hanging over our area is not due to local fires, but is the result of the number of large fires across the Pacific Northwest and Northern Rockies. The Air Quality Index (or AQI) for much of Northwest Colorado is in the “Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups” range. The AQI is an index for reporting daily air quality. It tells you how clean or polluted your airis, and what associated health effects might be a concern for you. Today index indicates that those in sensitive groups such as effected by asthma or heart disease may want to limit their time outdoor and be more sensitive to symptoms such as coughing or shortness of breath and be prepared to keep quick relief medicine handy. You can track the Air Quality Index for our area, and the entire United States here.
