A new study says skiiers contribute nearly $5 billion to the economy. The study from Colorado Ski Country US and Vail Resorts shows skiing and snowboarding account for roughly 46,000 full-time jobs across the state. Much of the money comes from tourists who, on average, spend about $300 per day on the slopes. And the resorts are getting smart, by extending their offerings year-round, to keep drawing visitors well beyond the winter. So far this winter at the Steamboat Ski area 115 inches of snowfall has been recorded.
