The Sierra Club has announced their support for Mark Udall in this year’s senate race. The announcement doesn’t come as a surprise, as Udall has been a strong supporter of the Obama Administration’s climate and energy policies and the war on coal. In fact, the Sierra Club says those are the reasons for their support. The group blasted Udall’s opponent, U.S. Representative Cory Gardner, for his opposition to those policies. Gardner has been a strong supporter of personal property and state’s water rights, as well as a supporter of the coal industry. When it comes to the EPA’s new carbon emissions rules, which are expected to hurt the local economies of coal producing counties, Gardner has been a stiff opponent. Udall has called the rules “a good start”. The two have stark differences when it comes to energy and climate policies.
