Over the past week, cool temperatures low winds and higher humidity have helped limit the growth of the Beaver Creek Fire, burning 24 miles north of Walden. Crews have limited the fires growth to only a few hundred acres and have maintained containment at 53%. They are continuing to monitor spot fires in the area and are creating and maintaining fire lines. Colorado U.S. Senator Cory Gardner recently announced that Colorado received a grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to help with wildfire protection and suppression. Gardner was in the area this week to take a tour of the Beaver Creek Fire and survey the damages.
