A semi-tanker rollover around 3:30 Friday afternoon, closed Highway 40 where it intersects with County Road 51A, the west entrance to the Yampa Valley Regional Airport. Traffic was blocked in both directions to allow crews to deal with the clean up. The highway reopened around 11:30 Friday night. According to a representative with the Colorado State Patrol, the accident occurred after the driver took the turn onto 51 A too wide. The tanker was reportedly hauling jet fuel, 100 gallons of which leaked out of the tank. A hazmat team was called in to stop the leak and isolate the spill. The trucking company is now responsible for bringing in another hazmat team to thoroughly clean the site. Above, photo from the scene of the accident courtesy of Ashley McMurray.
