Forest Road 250 near Yampa has been temporarily closed on the Routt National Forest during hazard tree removal operations. The closure is expected to be in place through the end of July. Nearly the entire stretch of road on the Yampa Ranger District is affected by the temporary closure. Over six miles in length, the road is located in south Routt County, in the Gore Range. The closure area begins off of Colorado Highway 134, north of Rock Creek State Wildlife Area, and winds north to a junction with Forest Road 102. The road will be opened at the end of operations each day. Operations will be active seven days a week, including weekends. Dispersed recreation sites outside of the closure areas are available. Removing dead trees along roadsides and other infrastructure remains an emphasis on the Routt National Forest. Temporary road closures are a short-term inconvenience needed to provide for long-term public safety. Visitors need to be aware of ongoing changes that may affect travel.
