Rock Springs Woman in Jail after Running Over Boyfriend

sweetwater-county-sheriff-3A Rock Springs woman is in custody charged with reckless driving after an incident reported Sunday night. A deputy responded to a complaint of a man, later identified as 28-year-old Robert Nellen, who had reportedly been run over by a woman on a dirt road southwest of Rock Springs about half a mile south of County Road 4-51. On scene, the deputy found Nellen’s vehicle, and 25 year old Kenzie Bechtol, Nellen’s girlfriend. Nellen said he and Bechtol had been arguing in his pickup, and Bechtol “was trying to jump out.” He said he stopped the pickup, Bechtol got out, and he left the truck to get her, at which point she ran back to the vehicle and got behind the wheel. He said Bechtol drove away, while he was holding the door handle, which broke off, and he was run over.
There were injuries to Nellen’s face, arms, legs, and ankle. Bechtol was placed under arrest and transported to the Sweetwater County Detention Center without incident, where she is being held on $3,000 bond.
