Road Closure In Dinosaur, Rafting Permits On Hold

The road which provides accesses the Rainbow Park and Island Park areas in Dinosaur National Park has been closed due to significant damage. Due to the closure, the Rainbow Park Campground and Boat Ramp are not accessible at this time. Because the damage prevents vehicle access, additional assessments of the road will have to be preformed on foot. As the closure is expected to last through the foreseeable future, monument staff are alerting Split Mountain Canyon day rafting permit holders of the closures, as future single-day river permits will be put on hold until the road can be repaired and reopened.  At this time there is no estimate for when the repairs will be completed. For additional information, call (435) 781-7700, or visit the Dinosaur National Parks Website.  A photo of the damage is available below.
