Fire fighters are suppressing the lightning caused Rim Rock Fire which started Wednesday and was declared controlled that evening on BLM land. The wildland fire rekindled Thursday afternoon and BLM crews returned to begin suppression efforts. Several loads of retardant were dropped Thursday by single engine air tankers from the Grand Junction Air Center. They were used to check the fires spread north and to the south toward homes about one half mile from the perimeter. There are also transmission lines in the area. The fire is a little over one acre.
