Reservations Now Required To Camp At Elkhead

ELK-HEAD-MAIN-SIGNBeginning next year campers will need to make reservations to use the Bears Ears Campground near Elkhead Reservoir. Colorado Parks and Wildlife is updating the campground from a “first come, first served”, to a “registration system”. The changes will go into effect May 19th, and campers will need to reserve a spot at the campground from that date through September 10th. Campsites can be reserved up to six months in advance. Outside of the reservation window, campsites will be available on a “first come, first served” basis. Beginning immediately, campers can make reservations at Bears Ears and other campgrounds in the state by calling 303-470-1144, 1-800-678-2267, reservations can also be made online.
